Jane
has hiked, backpacked and cross country skied all her life.
She has led
outings for the Mazamas (Portland based mountain climbing club)
and the
Portland chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club. With the help of
the Mount Hood
National Forest and the Oregon Nordic Club she pioneered and
led work
parties to establish a cross country ski route between Barlow
Pass and White
River Canyon on Mount Hood. Now limited in what she can carry,
she continues to hike, ski and travel hut-to-hut in
National Parks with the pack carrying assistance of her service/trail
dog, Trigger.
She currently
lives in Central Oregon with her dog,
Trigger. A recent tour of national parks and monuments in
California,
Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Arizona inspired her to write about
her dog
packing experience. Jane has three children in Southern Oregon
and seven
grandchildren.
